Process Baselining

The initial step in any document imaging and/or workflow project is to review/document the existing processes and operations. EID staff utilizes graphical based tools enabling users to electronically navigate through the process during the review cycles.

This tool provides users the ability "move" through the process BETWEEN charts rather than by being forced to "flip pages" or try to remember where each portion of the process came from and where the work would go after moving down a specific path.  This is significantly different than using ordinary flowcharting tools designed for other activities.

All of the process schematics developed include decision points, where the document originated, where it was sent, and all decision points. This differs greatly from the "Task Oriented Schematic" which shows the isolated activities of a specific unit or process.

There are two schools of thought regarding the style of baselining.  The first is the follow the flow of work through the system from receipt to final disposition.  The second is to follow the receipt of the document through the system to final resting place.

As neither view alone can provide the view required for decision making, EID uses a blend of both styles to provide the client with definitive answers to current and foreseen processes.  EID provides the staffing to assist the client with evaluating the abstract 2-dimensional view of current processing, to 3-dimensional graphical representations to be used in process change and program development.
